Common Issues
How do I download Whisper models?
Open falavra and go to Settings → Models. Select the model you want and click Download. Models are downloaded once and cached locally.
The transcription isn't very accurate. How can I improve it?
Try using a larger Whisper model (Pro feature). The large-v3 model provides the best accuracy. Also, audio quality significantly impacts results — clear speech produces better transcriptions.
What export formats are available?
Free: Markdown (.md) and plain text (.txt). Pro: Also includes SRT and VTT subtitle formats.
Can I use falavra completely offline?
Transcription works offline after the initial model download. However, downloading YouTube audio requires an internet connection.
License & Billing
What are the free tier limits?
Free users can transcribe up to 3 videos per day with a maximum duration of 15 minutes per video, using the base Whisper model.
How do I activate my Pro license?
Go to Settings → Enter License Key in falavra. Paste the key from your purchase email and click Activate.
How many machines can I use?
Your Pro license works on up to 3 devices. You can deactivate a device from Settings to free up a slot.
I lost my license key. How do I recover it?
Visit falavra.com/restore and enter the email you used during purchase. Your license key will be resent immediately.
Will I get free updates?
All v1.x updates are included with your Pro license. Major version upgrades (v2.0+) may require a paid upgrade at a discount.
Technical
What are the system requirements?
macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later, or Windows 10 or later. At least 4GB RAM recommended. Storage varies by model (75MB to 3GB).
How much disk space do I need?
The app itself is small. Whisper models range from 75MB (tiny) to 3GB (large-v3). Transcriptions and downloaded audio use additional space.
Is my data private?
Yes. All transcription processing happens locally on your machine. No audio or text data is ever sent to any server.
Does falavra support any video URL?
Currently falavra is optimized for YouTube URLs. Support for additional platforms may be added in future updates.
